Strengths and Weaknesses
A young man was filling up an application form for admission to the University.
In reply to a request to ‘list your personal strengths’, honestly he wrote, “Sometimes I am trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.”
Further down the form was the heading, ‘list your weaknesses’. And in all sincerity he wrote, “Sometimes I am not trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent”.
………………
Is that not more or less the case with most of us ordinary mortals? No one is totally strong, nor totally weak. The difference in the frequency of the two ‘sometimes’ is what makes the difference. No one is totally good nor totally bad.
