Windshield Wiper!

One rainy afternoon, I was driving along one of the main streets of the town, taking those extra precautions necessary when the roads are wet and slick. Suddenly, my daughter, Aspen, spoke up from her seat. “Dad, I am thinking of something.” An announcement of the kind usually meant that she had been pondering over some fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that her six-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to learn.

What are you thinking?” I asked. “The rain”, she began, “is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God, wiping our sins away.”

Chill bumps raced up my arms and I responded. “That is very good, Aspen.” Then my curiosity broke in. How far would this little girl take this revelation? So I asked, “Do you notice how the rain keeps on coming. What does that tell you?”

Aspen did not hesitate one moment. “We keep on sinning and God just keeps on forgiving us,” she said. How true!

…………….

The comparison seems to be very apt, no matter the volume or frequency, the wiper wipes away the whole lot as often as is needed. So too God never gets tired of forgiving – not seven times but manifold “seventy times seventy.” Sometimes, we lack the courage to turn to Him.
